The Bamboo Program

Welcome to the Bamboo Perinatal Support Program! Our mission is to help mums in the perinatal period receive the support they desire and deserve. If you’re a mum who is pregnant or has recently given birth and you would like some support on your parenting journey, this program is for you. Simply nominate a support person within the system or we’ll find a mum to support you. We’ll walk alongside you to make your journey less daunting.

The impact of social support during this transformative time of your life cannot be overestimated.

I’ve been fortunate enough to see close up the joy there is in becoming a mum. But, it also comes with so many unknowns and challenges - at times it can be a lonely experience. Happy, healthy mums are critical for growing up happy, healthy bubs - and we know that the bubs who have the best start are set on a strong pathway for life. To get our bubs off to a strong start, new mums need support that is compassionate, well-informed, calm, and naon-judgmental. Mums are facing and reporting mental health challenges more now than ever before - it is critical that we answer this call.

Research shows that without support from friends and communities, new mothers are much more likely to experience symptoms of depression and anxiety. A little bit of support goes a long way to helping exhausted mothers find their confidence.

Peer social support helps new mothers navigate challenges, ease stress, and build confidence by providing shared experiences, reassurance, and a sense of community.
